Flood Protection Systems of Objects

1. System Description

General

Floods occur more and more frequently in Germany and cause increasing damage. Often, the resulting damage is poses severe economic risks for the affected residents.

IBS developed various plates and barriers for protection from floods or surface water.

Flood protection systems only make sense if they can also be erected by laymen in a few steps without requiring a lot of strength. Only one tool is required for fast and easy installation. Only professional systems, which solidly and reliably withstand the flooding can provide this.

In order to achieve this added flood protection while leaving the everyday situation largely unchanged under observation of today's safety standards, the construction and operation of a mobile flood protection system has to meet the highest demands.

Barrier System - Principle

Barrierensysteme

In principle, IBS' barrier systems consists of two components: The end posts, which are installed in the building's opening or in front of it and the dam beams mounted between the end posts.

In order to achieve a high degree of impermeability, pressing tools are used to press the seals between the dam beams and the floor seal against the installation surface.

Flaps and Plates - Principle

Klappen und Platten

In principle, IBS' flaps consist of two components: The frame mounted in front of the building opening on the tight end or the thrust face and the movable plate.

The plate features a seal that is pressed against the frame with several bolts in order to achieve a high degree of impermeability.

Flexibility

With its in-house development and construction department, IBS can offer its customers a large number of solutions. The customer decides whether to dimension and install the more economic, standardised flood protection systems himself or have IBS take care of projecting and installation.

The IBS employees cover most functions. This means: our internal departments take care of development, distribution, production and installation. This enables us to react fast, reliable and flexible to customer demands.

IBS can quickly adapt existing standard solutions to object-specific problems or develop new solutions, e.g.: barrier systems, sealed on 4 sides, special angles, special flanges, etc.

Materials

  • Dam beams made of aluminium extruded sections (AlMgSi)
  • Support posts as full-aluminium constructions (AlMgSi) or combinations of aluminium extruded sections (AlMgSi) with hot-galvanised steel foot (S235)
  • End profile made of aluminium extruded sections (AlMgSi)
  • Pressing tools made of Gk-AlSi12 / V2a (W-no. 1.4301)
  • Anchor plates made of stainless steel (V2A, 1.4301 / V4a, 1.4571) with black steel anchoring
  • Flaps and barriers made of steel, aluminium, stainless steel (S235, AlMgSi,V2A, 1.4301 / V4a, 1.4571)
  • Seals made of EPDM, PE / PUR
Due to the applied high-quality materials, which have been used in flood protection for many years, we guarantee long durability under proper storage conditions. The system is designed in such a way that planned replacement purchases are not required during the material service life.

Required Tools
The installation of the system only requires simple tools (ratchet wrench with 8 mm hexagonal socket).

2. System Variants

The following product types are available:

  • IBS BSH-I 50 with 50 mm wide and 166 mm or 300 mm high dam beams
  • IBS BSH-I 100 light with 100 mm wide and 150 mm high dam beams
  • IBS BSH-I 100 H (heavy duty) with 100 mm wide and 150 mm high dam beams
  • IBS HWK flaps according to customer specifications
  • IBS HWK plates according to customer specifications

These product types provide technical variation options that allow custom-tailored solutions for just about any project situation.

3. Storage

We provide an advanced storage technology for our system. This technology allows the contact-free storage of the dam beams and support posts. The system is stored in hot-galvanised steel palettes equipped with fork tracks, crane stop positions, stackable palette feet and tension belts. Due to the contact-free storage of the individual parts on the steel palettes, these can be simply rinsed off with a water hose after use.
Contact corrosion is avoided.

4. Installation Situations

Several installation variants are available for the installation of the end posts.

Vor der Laibung
In front of the reveal
In der Laibung

5. Leakage Rate

We observe the leakage rate pursuant to DIN 19569 - 4 in our flood protection systems.
