In principle, IBS' system consists of two components:
The end posts, which are installed in the canal or in front of it and the dam
beams stacked between the end posts. A
ground track is not required. The system is connected with the ground by means
of an extremely flexible ground seal. This compensates unevenness within the
admissible tolerances for concrete work (DIN 18202, table 3). So-called bracing
chiplets are used to press the ground seal against the installation surface as
well as the dam beams against each other in vertical direction. Center posts
are used for blocking off large spreads. These are either designed as permanent
screw fittings or demountable with anchor plates.
